LEVI WATAKA
Conductor, Educator, Community Leader
Levi Wataka is a Kenyan conductor and music educator, serving as Musical Director of the National Youth Orchestra of Kenya and Assistant Music Director of the Safaricom Youth Orchestra. With a longstanding commitment to community development through music and sports initiatives across East Africa, he has been instrumental in establishing programs like Ghetto Classics and the Nairobi Music Society.
Levi began his musical journey at Lenana School, where he taught himself to play the piano and led the school choir. He has since pursued advanced studies in conducting, participating in courses such as the George Hurst Conductors’ Course in Sherborne, England.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Levi has been involved in sports, particularly rugby, and holds IRB Level 2 coaching and refereeing qualifications. His multifaceted approach to leadership and education continues to inspire and uplift communities throughout the region.
